Samson is due for another pediatrician visit this Saturday. Michael reminded me to let Samson know beforehand so he is mentally prepared. Although I told him to delay till later, I cannot resist informing Samson yesterday. And once again it is proven, Samson start having hiccups, twice yesterday and thrice today. I hope he won't get more fussy than that because the last few time, he had colic and hiccup. I have not told Samson that this time round he is going for 2 jabs.
You can also call me a over protective mother, but who is not. My MIL today again mentioned about giving Samson a walker, I told her we have decided not to. Samson must learn to crawl before he walk. Reason is that a walker exercises his lower leg but not the upper leg and thigh muscle. And in many countries, walker is not recommended, and it is also banned in Canada. Instead I have rented a Exersaucer. One that allow him to exercise his muscles, jump and practice standing. Not sure how it will turn out but I believe Samson will love it.
Today I had an argument with my MIL. She told me that she gave Samson a little bit of bread last Friday. I obviously objected strongly. She insisted that Samson is already over 5 months, is ready to eat all kinds of food. You can say I over-react but I am a protective mother, so I don't care about what other mothers do, they can take their risk, I am not prepared to. Feeding baby any food other than their infant formula or breastmilk is subject to possible allergy. Most bread contains butter, sugar and egg. And egg is one of the top ten allergy product. The digestive system for a 6 month baby is not fully developed yet, giving Samson baby cereal is just to let him get used to solid food. And the only reason I started him on cereal was to increase his iron intake, which should have depleted by now. I rather be safe than sorry. I want my son to be healthy, bubbly and happy. I will not take the risk of giving him any food that will burden his digestive system.
